Since May 2023 I've been travelling across Australia and it has been life-changing.
We started in Gold Coast. Beaches beyond imagine with white sands stretching to the horizon. Every day was 30 degrees or more, in the middle of Winter, with bright sun and blue skies.
Living not very far from the city of Surfers Paradise, you can see why it was named as such. Hordes of surfers waited in the swell, anticipating the perfect waves that would soon come their way.
After Gold Coast we moved to Brisbane. Arriving with absolutely no expectations we were honestly very happy to be there. Split into three main areas: the CBD, the Valley and West End, we quickly found our place in the latter.
Post-Brisbane, we commenced our road trip of South-West Australia. The whole area was home to raw beauty and the power of nature itself on full display. We visited Leeuwin Lighthouse, where the Pacific and Indian oceans meet, as well as Albany Wind Farm with its fierce winds and stunning stretches of coastline.
A personal highlight was Boranup Karri Forest. An empty stretch of road wound through endless forest with a verdant floor, routinely marked by large expanses of blooming wildflowers.
Out here the coast was even more impressive. Large swathes of open land were constantly assaulted by powerful waves. Due to the bad weather we had the beaches entirely to ourselves and it was such an incredible and humbling space to be in, entirely alone.
In the odd breaks from the storms we experienced, the waters were such exceptional colours. Ranging from bright neon blues to these rich, deep greens.
Before we knew it, our roadtrip was near its end. Our flights for Melbourne the next day and no more beaches or landmarks on our agenda. We will definitely be returning one day soon.
